Geography

The forests of Neora Valley are so rich in vegetation that the sun's rays barely reach the ground. Much of the park is still inaccessible, making it an adventure destination for nature lovers and hikers who might try to explore uncharted lands in the mountains of Kalimpong. Virgin natural forests, dense bamboo thickets, colorful canopy of trees of the genus rhododendron (Rhododendron), lush green valleys, meandering rivers and streams against the backdrop of snow-capped mountains create a picturesque landscape. The park reaches an altitude of over 3200 meters on Mount Rechela Danda, the highest point of the national park, on the border of Sikkim and Bhutan. The Neora River is the main waterway for the city of Kalimpong.

Flora

The Neora River Valley, one of the few wilderness areas in the country, maintains a unique ecosystem where tropical, subtropical, sub-temperate and temperate areas combine to give life to a diverse flora and fauna. Forests contain a mixture of species, including rhododendrons (rhododendron), bamboo (Bambusoideae), oaks (Quercus), fern-like (Polypodiophyta) and bacon (Shorea robusta). Numerous representatives of the orchid family also grow in the valley.
